TDK to acquire sensor ASIC design company ICsense

TDK has announced the acquisition of ICsense from Belgium by TDK’s wholly-owned subsidiary TDK-Micronas GmbH on 28 March. ICsense will become a member of TDK group and a wholly-owned subsidiary of TDK-Micronas. The ICsense management team will remain unchanged.

Established in 2004, ICsense’s core business is ASIC development and the supply and custom IC design services. ICsense has the expertise in analog, digital, mixed-signal and high-voltage IC design. The company develops and supplies customer exclusive ASIC solutions for the automotive, medical, industrial and consumer market. The core expertise of ICsense is sensor and MEMS interfacing, high-voltage IC design, power and battery management. After becoming a TDK group company, ICsense will continue to develop ASICs for its existing and new customers worldwide.

Having an extensive track record as a manufacturer of ASICs for TDK’s magnetic sensors, TDK has decided to acquire ICsense because TDK aims to further grow its sensor business and ASICs perform processes essential to sensor products by reading values and conducting signal processing.

TDK has been actively engaged in acquisition to enhance its sensor business. Besides ICsense, it has acquired Tronics Microsystems on Aug 2016 and InvenSense on Dec 2016.
